Ice skating at the Arboretum

It’s not often that temperatures are cold enough to freeze the water at the Arboretum.  Several groups of people hit the ice over New Year’s weekend.  Thanks to Linda for the photo.

    How deep is that water? That looks insanely dangerous.

    Ice begins to be safe for walking at 4-6 inches, this is likely “thin ice” and the people could be considered “skating on thin ice” not the thing to teach kids…

    Around the shore area the ice was thin. I was surprised to see how much weight it would support.
