Celebration planned for reopening of NE 45th Viaduct

Posted by Doug Alder on September 3rd, 2010

We’ve gotten the official word that the NE 45th Street Viaduct will reopen on Friday, September 10 at 11am.

SDOT is inviting the community to come and out celebrate that day starting with a ribbon cutting at 8:45am.  You can hear from the project team and city staff who worked on the project, as well as meet the contractor who completed the project on schedule for the first home football game at Husky Stadium.

The event will be held at the top of the hill (near 22nd Avenue NE & NE 45th Street) and should last until 10am.  The road will reopen about one hour after that.

I wonder if everyone will be just standing there, waiting around at 10:00, for a car to come by and figure out the detour is over…

Yeah…leave it to the City of Seattle to celebrate the completion of a project on time. In the real world we get fired if we don’t meet deadlines.
