New bike shop needs help finding stolen signs

Posted by Doug Alder on September 2nd, 2010

Update: Ride Bicycles say an employee from the Seattle parks department brought the signs back. They are not allowed to put them on the Ravenna green space.

Less than a week after they opened in the U-District, a local business had its A-frame signs stolen.  Ride Bicycles at 6029 Roosevelt Way had 2 of the signs stolen from the intersection of Roosevelt & Ravenna.  The folks at Ride Bicycles say the signs, that look like the one pictured left, will be expensive to replace.  Call 206-985-7433 if you have any information on the signs.

This is a high theft neighborhood, lock signs to something.

Green Lake Nutrition had one of their signs stolen Tuesday night from 6329 20th Ave NE (http://fb.me/BhHnBoJX) but it was recovered yesterday.

Same person? Maybe they have some info from the recovery that might help? Worth a shot.

Try the city. This has happened to me before. The people’s republic of Seattle has a sign law to keep capitalist from making too much money and stealing the bread from the working man’s plate.

Hey, I’m OK with one sign right in front of a business, but some businesses seem to think the public sidewalk is there for plopping signs all over. Hey, Mike, in this capitalist world, you want to advertise off your property, you gotta pay someone.

The signs were taken by the parks department or the City of Seattle, not sure which or if it even matters as they have been returned. We will no longer put them in any restricted spots but they do help people find Ride Bicycles Bike Shop.

Nailing your advertisements to every tree in the neighborhood will help people find your business, but not everyone thinks it’s a good idea.

I prefer public greenspace free of advertisements.
